Friday Feature: An Interview with Joanny White

Friday Feature is a series where I feature people who inspire me, or products that I find interesting. Today, we have Joanny telling us a little bit about herself. Joanny is a lovely young lady living in England and I really enjoy reading her planning posts on her cute lil’ blog.

I was very excited when I got an email from Lyn asking if I could take part in her Friday Feature right here on her blog. There’s no way I could have said no so here are the answers to her questions.

Tell us a bit about yourself, what do you like to do when you’re not planning?

My name is Joanny and I was born and raised in Cameroon-(West Africa), but I currently live in the UK- South West England to be precise. I am also half Nigerian but for some reason I don’t seem to mention that a lot. I finished my A Levels last year, I am currently on a gap year and I work in a hospital as a healthcare assistant.

I love singing, dancing, cooking and listening to music. I also watch a lot of tv. Romantic comedies are one of my favourite alongside some of my favourite TV shows like 24 hours in A&E. I have recently started reading a lot and journalling which I am really starting to enjoy. I also teach myself to play the ukulele πŸ˜€

What is your favourite planner and why?

I have only used one Filofax as my main planner- my personal Saffiano in aqua and I would have to say this is my current favourite. To be honest, I wasn’t crazy about the colour at first but the more I use it, the more I fall in love with it. I also really love my mini Metropol in Raspberry. I like the fact that Filofaxes are very customisable and I can always find a system that suits me best plus, I can keep everything in one place.

What is your favourite planner accessory or stationery?

Ah this one is very easy for me. Two words. Washi Tape. I don’t even know what it is about them but I love how they brighten up my diary pages. I also own a lot of sticky notes. I love them in all shapes and sizes. I just like writing my to-do lists on something cute rather than boring plain paper πŸ˜€

I’m not too fussy about my pens either, as long as they are colourful. I can survive without stickers though πŸ˜€

What inspired you to start a blog?

My main reason for starting my blog was to document my whole process of applying to university but along the way, I jumped on the Filofax bus and immediately became hooked so quickly. My love for planning intensified when I found out there was a whole planner community out there with YouTube videos and don’t even get me started on the pretty pictures on blog posts. Oh my!!! I just couldn’t get enough of the planner craze and so I decided to start sharing my own ideas about planning and organisation.

I put up “My Week” posts every Sunday just to talk about how my week has been as well as show how I’ve decorated my diary pages. Alongside my university application, I blog about all things stationery, organisational, motivational, a bit of DIY, some music and I will probably share a few recipes in the future πŸ™‚

What do you enjoy most about blogging?

My favourite part about blogging is talking to the lovely readers. Just being able to meet other like minded people out there and share ideas is what I enjoy most.

Where would you like to go on a holiday?

Ok I do have a couple of places I would love to visit but the top ones on my bucket list would have to be New York, Hawaii and probably Jamaica πŸ™‚

What are your favourite stores (online or brick & mortar) to shop in?

WH Smith, Ryman and Paperchase for all my stationery supplies.

NatalieShaunaCrafts – For dashboards, washi tapes and dividers.
Mrs Brimbles – For cute dashboards and adorable sticky notes.
Dragonchant – For cute washi tapes.

If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be?

Hmm this one is a really tough question I’m not gonna lie. I actually had to think about this for a while and then this word suddenly popped into my head- OPTIMIST. I always try to find a way to put the bad and ugly together and turn it into something good. I am a BELIEVER. I believe that in life, happiness is a choice and therefore I choose to be happy πŸ™‚

And lastly, please leave a link to your blog/YouTube and social media so we can connect with you:

The internets truly are a lovely thing – I never knew that planners were “cool” until Pinterest and Instagram turned me to the dark side. I always thought they had to be functional, then maybe pretty, with pens and whatnot. But with the internet being what it is – you can do a quick search and find tons of resources for making your planner not only functional but Amazing!
