Friday Feature: An Interview with My Purpley Life

Friday Feature is a series where I feature people who inspire me, or products that I find interesting. Today, we have a very special guest, Jennifer of My Purpley Life! Jennifer’s was probably the first planner blog I came across and fell in love with her beautiful collection of planners.

Tell us a bit about yourself, what do you like to do when you’re not planning?

I am 30 years of age, with a husband and two beautiful daughters. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I’m am a licensed Respiratory Therapist, but currently not working. I am on the Webster’s Pages Creative Planner Design Team for 2015. When I am not planning or on social media, I am busy being taking care of my family. I love to catch up on some TV or watch a movie when I can. I am also a big nail polish lover. I love to paint my nails. My time also goes to card making, scrapbooking/ Project Life, and practicing Calligraphy. I also love catching up/hanging out with friends and writing to my pen pals.

What is your favourite planner and why?

I don’t have a favorite planner. Why? I am a paper lover. This month, I may be in an Erin Condren. Last month, I was using a Traveler’s Notebook. Next month, I will use a Color Crush Planner. As long as I’m using it and it is useful to me, that’s all that really matters.

What is your favourite planner accessory or stationery?

I am also a stationery lover. I love using stickers, different color pens and markers, post it notes, sticky flags, hole reinforcements, paper clips, and washi/masking/paper tapes!

What inspired you to start a blog?

When I was in my own pursuit of trying to find information about planners, there weren’t too many references I could go at the time. Just a handful of blogs or videos on the internet. So, I learned as much as I could, and did my research. I knew that I wanted to share my ideas with the world. Thus, in 2012  ‘My Purpley Life’ was born. Quickly, I found that by showing everyone how I decorate my pages and how I use my planner, I gave inspiration to others who had long forgotten about their planners and have now been able to bring them back to life. It gave people motivation to want to be more organized with their lives. In turn, it has motivated me to continue to inspire others to use their planner in a creative yet functional and effective manner, and making it fun to use!

Where would you like to go on a holiday?

My first instinct would be to say Hawaii. I have family in Oahu and have been there several times. I love it there. I do have dreams to go to Florida. Who wouldn’t want to visit the “Happiest Place on Earth” with Mickey at Disney World and visit Universal Studios! Also, I would love to go to New York! Hopefully someday!

What are your favourite stores (online or brick & mortar) to shop in?

There are so many, let’s start with Brick & Mortar. Target (One Spot), Michael’s, Jo Ann Fabrics & Crafts, Hobby Lobby. Daiso, Kinokuniya, ArtBox, Morning Glory, Sanrio, Poketo, Vroman’s Bookstore, Tokyo Lifestyle, Barnes & Noble, Staples, Tuesday Morning, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, MUJI.

As for online stores: JetPens, Mochithings, kikki.K, Yozocraft, CuteTape, Etsy, Sakuralala, CoolPencilCase.

If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be?

Capable – I am able to achieve anything!

And lastly, please leave a link to your blog/YouTube and social media so we can connect with you:

I used to be crazy over nail polish but I don’t wear it often these days because it chips really easily as I’m doing housework and cook more often these days. Hehehe…
